Why We Convene
The Isdell:Flowers Cross Border Malaria Initiative convenes malaria partners and advocates, Ministry of Health representatives, scientists, and implementers to share updates and best practices to accelerate malaria elimination in Southern Africa. Our annual Round Table meeting highlights the importance of community engagement and leadership in malaria elimination, and provides a platform for community experts, scientific experts, and program design experts to exchange ideas and experiences.

2022 Webinar: Rethinking Malaria Leadership: How a Diverse Group of Malaria Advocates is Addressing a Society-Wide Problem
On Thursday June 2nd from 8:00-10:00 EDT / 14:00-16:00 CAT, the J.C. Flowers Foundation co-hosted a webinar with Harvard’s Defeating Malaria: From the Genes to the Globe Initiative. The webinar featured civil society and government voices from communities affected by malaria and those with a global perspective.

2021 Virtual Round Table Meeting
On April 9-10, 2021, The Isdell:Flowers Cross Border Malaria Initiative hosted a virtual Round Table meeting, featuring representatives from The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria, The President’s Malaria Initiative, National Malaria Control and Elimination Programs, The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, as well as various malaria implementers and advocates.
Participants discussed overlooked strategies and techniques for malaria elimination, community engagement, the role of faith in malaria elimination, the use of community data for local decision making, and domestic advocacy and resource mobilization. In addition, closed working sessions were held to discuss regional priorities.
